Inter-Agency Collaboration in Local Labour Market Services |
 |
The need for greater sustained interagency collalboration
at the local level arose from recommendations of the report Solving
Long-term Unemployment in Dublin – The Lessons from Policy Innovation
(2000).
The development of integrated partnership working at the local level in
Dublin has given rise to many models of effective problem solving. However,
there remain many issues around ensuring effective inter-agency collaboration
and resource sharing.
These range from the need to move away from ad hoc cooperation between
local partners towards more systematic methods and protocols, the generation
of effective local data, and the development of consistent client-based
solutions.
Two scoping projects in Ballymun and Finglas-Cabra were implemented with
the assistance of the Pact and the results were published in 2003. Mr.
Noel Ahern, T.D., Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Trade and
Employment launched these reports on May 26, 2004 at a seminar on the
theme of ‘Inter-agency Collaboration in Local Labour Market Services’
(held at Dublin City University). At the seminar presentations were made
by Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ballymun and Finglas-Cabra
Partnerships, European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working
Conditions, Local Employment Services and Ballymun Rapid.
